ICASL Dismisses Tribunal Report on Ethical Grounds

The Institute of Chartered Accountant has released its findings over the tribunal report, which indicted the suspended Auditor General, Lara Taylor Pearce and her Deputy, Tamba Momoh of wrongdoings.
According to the findings of the ICASL Report, it states that after reviewing the government tribunal report that questioned the professional conduct of Lara Taylor Pearce and her deputy, the committee found out that the Auditor General and her deputy acted in consistency with the ICASL Code of ethics, international standards on Auditing, international standards of supreme Audit institutions, the constitution of Sierra Leone and the Audit Service Act 2014, noting that there were no breaches of professional and ethical standards.
They also added that the Auditor General and her Deputy acted in the best interest of the public, upheld professional standards and adhered to international auditing standards and guidelines. “There were no instances of professional misconduct or ethical breaches, as outlined in the ICASL code of ethics and INTOSSAL’s standards”.
They concluded by affirming that Mrs. Lara Taylor Pearce and Mr. Tamba Momoh should continue to perform their professional roles as qualified Chartered and Certified Accountants, free of any encumbrances to their names or any doubt on their integrity.
The ICASL press release came in the wake of the Government’s release of a tribunal report, which indicted Lara Taylor Pearce and her Deputy of wrongdoing and urged the Attorney General to take the necessary actions. The APC MPs have also released their position on this issue, which resonates with the call of ICASL.
