Govt Pacifies Medical Doctors

In a bid to put to an end the nationwide strike action threat by medical doctors, the Government of Sierra Leone, through the Ministry of Health, has officially announced the distribution of 3rd Quarter fuel supply to the doctors.

This was made known to the public through a memo issued by the Ministry, noting that the fuel allocation for medical doctors for the period  of July to September 2024 is now available for distribution. The Ministry called on Heads of health facilities in all districts to formally request the fuel supply from the office of the Permanent Secretary.

The Ministry has also clarified the process for newly appointed doctors. In cases where a new doctor is eligible for fuel, the facility heads must provide additional documentation, including the vehicle life card, valid insurance policy, and the doctor’s posting letter.

The government’s response came after the medical doctors have threatened a nationwide strike actions if their needs are not met.
