Former NPRC Member Sends Strong Message to President Bio

Former NPRC member Kwegor Amara has issued a strongly worded criticism of President Julius Maada Bio, warning that “the evil that men do lives after them.” He accused the President of turning against individuals who played key roles in his political rise.
Amara said President Bio’s ascension to office was made possible through destiny helpers such as himself, the sacrifices of SLPP supporters, and the unwavering backing of senior party stakeholders including JJ Saffa and Prince Harding, who, he noted, contributed immensely to securing the President’s victory. He expressed disappointment that, despite these efforts, the President now appears hostile toward many who once stood firmly by him.
He further accused President Bio of turning a blind eye to what he described as the excesses of the First Lady, questioning whether the President is repaying the SLPP with ingratitude.
Amara also warned that the President’s actions are creating an unhealthy political atmosphere around the SLPP flagbearership, a situation he said risks deepening divisions within the party. According to him, the SLPP’s chances of winning the 2028 general elections rest squarely on the President’s shoulders, adding that any failure at the polls would be his sole responsibility if corrective actions are not taken.
He called on President Bio to reconcile with party elders and key stakeholders he said have been sidelined, including former Speaker of Parliament Dr Abass Bundu, Dr Alie Kabba, Mohamed Tunis, and others. Amara stressed that it is the President’s responsibility to bring these individuals together under a united SLPP banner to strengthen the party ahead of the 2028 elections.
He concluded by urging President Bio to do what is right for party unity and cohesion, insisting that reconciliation and inclusiveness are essential if the SLPP is to retain power in future elections.
