For making incendiary Statements… SLPP Disowns Bio’s Strongman

Senior SLPP Member and Strongman of President Bio’s 2023 Election Campaign, Chief Abdul Kadiru Kaikai, who has recently threatened verbally to wage war in Sierra Leone ‘if he is not elected as President in 2028’, has been arrested and placed under custody by the SierraLeone Police.

According to a press release issued by the SierralLeone Police on 19th July, 2024, the authority says how they have loosely translated Kadiru Kaikai utterances, which implies that “if I do not become President of Sierra Leone in 2028, I will mastermind a big war in Sierra Leone, far worse than anybody is expecting. I am well prepared and had even budgeted for it… To bring war in Sierra Leone one only needs 3.3 million united states dollars to start at Masiaka”.

Given the seriousness of the statement and its effect, the Sierra Leone Police, through its Criminal Investigation Department, has initiated an investigation concerning that video in circulation on social media, and the said suspect (Abdul Kadiru Kaikai) has been arrested and presently in custody.
The police release states the purpose of the investigation, which is to ascertain the veracity of the statement and the intent of the maker.

However, Abdul Kadiru’s recent outburst has become a topic of discussion in every corner of Sierra Leone, with many SLPP sympathizers asserting that Kadiru must have been under the influence of drugs to make such an unfortunate statement, while other school of thoughts are holding on a contrary view, stating that such utterances was premediated and recalculated by the speaker, without taking into consideration about the spill over effect it may have.
As the drama continues to unfold, coupled with the wide condemnation made by members of the public about such an unfortunate statement, the leadership of the SLPP has condemned and distanced themselves from such ‘reckless statement’, stating how that does not represent the views and aspirations of members of the SLPP. “Threat and violence and war have no place in a civilized and democratic society, and must be unequivocally denounced”, says the SLPP Press release signed by Umaru Napoleon Koroma, adding that the safety and security of the citizenry are utmost importance to the SLPP, and any attempt to disrupt it will not be tolerated.
In light of the above, the leadership of the SLPP has resolved to suspend the membership of Kadiru Kaikai with immediate effect, pending the outcome of disciplinary hearing for further action, and advised all party faithfuls to dissociate themselves from him and his activities, emphasizing the point that any attempt made by Kadiru Kaikai to use the name of the SLPP and make a statement in any public forum will be met with serious legal action.
Sampling the opinions of many critics and political commentators about the arrest of Kadiru Kaikai relating to his recent outburst, they commended the Police for acting swiftly, and appealed to them to dispense justice in the matter, especially when the evidence is glaringly visible. “I am appealing to the Investigators of this matter to display professionalism and avoid being influenced by any “order from above”, a seasoned political Commentator, who preferred to remain anonymous shared his opinion, adding that this matter is a test case for the Sierra Leone Police to prove their independence and neutrality in dealing with Politicians that are highly connected to the powers that be.
Some people have already preempted the outcome of the matter, describing it as another ‘buff case’, as nothing will come out of it, as long as it involves an SLPP big don.
