Following his Declaration for political position… APC Leader Threatens To Cease all Engagement With Clerk of Parliament

Following the declaration of Hon. Paran Tarawally for the SLPP Secretary General Position, the Leader of the Main Opposition APC party in Parliament, Hon. Abdul Kargbo, has demanded the resignation of the former, raising concerns over conflict of interest and misconduct. He also threatened to cease all engagement with the Clerk of Parliament if he does not resign from office.
According to Abdul Kargbo, the declaration of Hon. Paran Tarawally candidacy for the SLPP Secretary General position contravenes the established laws that prohibit public servant from holding executive positions in Political Parties. He argued that paran’s conduct constitutes fundamental violations of the law seeking to protect the public services from political influence and further poses a threat to the impartiality of the Parliament.
Furthermore, the Opposition Leader also criticized the Clerk of Parliament for making what he described as ‘derogative statements’ against members of the opposition, describing such statements to have contradicted his position that mandates him to serve all members of Parliament without prejudice.
He concluded by threatening to cease all engagement with the Clerk of Parliament and stop recognizing his authority if he fails to resign from his office.
