Ex-Peacekeeping Police Officers Detained at Police Headquarters …IG & Others Implicated

An indepth investigation conducted by Voice of Salone Newspaper reveals how a good number of Ex-Peacekeeping Police Officers are being detained and suffering under the most inhumane condition one can fathom, and most disheartening is the fact that these officers have just returned from representing the country deligently in a 18 months peacekeeping mission in Somalia.
It has been revealed that 160 Sierra Leone Police officers, who formed the Police Unit Contingent 4, left Sierra Leone on Friday April 1st, 2022 and were deployed in Somalia for peacekeeping mission, which lasted for 18 months. During their stay in Somalia, two of their colleagues lost their lives and after that, the remaining officers returned home and have been kept at the police facility, denying them the opportunity to return to their respective homes.
The officers, according to sources, have taken 11 months in the police facility in Freetown, and have been suffering with inhuman treatment. No good water and toilet facility was given to them, and worst of it all, the officers are sleeping on foam that are placed on the floor. This inhuman treatment meted on the police officers has caused serious sickness among them, and to make matters worse, their allowances and other employment benefit due them have not been paid.
It is alleged that senior members of the EMB of the Sierra Leone Police had embezzled their allowances and hopes of getting their pay in the future have faded away.

In a bid to get a balance story, this medium contacted the Spokesman of the Sierra Leone Police, Brima Kamara, via Whatsapp calls and text messages, but he declined to respond.
