Entertainment Ambassador Appeals for Bail for Zainab Sheriff

The Office of the Entertainment Ambassador has formally appealed to the Judiciary of Sierra Leone to grant bail to Zainab Sheriff, who is currently standing trial on allegations of incitement and threatening language.
In a statement dated March 1, 2026, the Ambassador’s Office urged the court to ensure that Sheriff receives fair treatment and that her constitutional rights are fully respected throughout the legal process. While condemning the statements allegedly made by Sheriff, a member of the entertainment community, the Office emphasized the importance of upholding justice and due process.
“Justice must not only be done, but must be seen to be done — fairly, transparently, and without prejudice,” the statement read.
Sheriff has been denied bail on two occasions during her appearances before Magistrate Brima Jah at Pademba Road Magistrate Court No. 1. Her next court appearance is scheduled for March 4.
The case has sparked broader discussions within the entertainment community and civil society, with previous appeals made both in law and in conscience for her release on bail as she awaits the continuation of her trial.
