Deputy Speaker Plans to Venture into Business After Parliamentary Career

Hon. Ibrahim Tawa Conteh, Deputy Speaker of Parliament, has revealed plans to transition into business after completing his parliamentary career in 2028, with a particular interest in the palm oil trade.
Speaking recently, the Deputy Speaker stated that after serving a total of ten years as a Member of Parliament, he intends to focus on private enterprise, drawing inspiration from the economic potential he has observed in Kailahun District.
“After serving as a Member of Parliament for ten years, come 2028, I will embark on business. I have seen many viable business opportunities in Kailahun, especially in the palm oil trade,” Hon. Conteh said.
He noted that agriculture and agro-based enterprises remain key drivers of economic growth and job creation, particularly in rural communities, and expressed confidence that ventures such as palm oil processing could significantly contribute to local development.
The Deputy Speaker added that his decision reflects a broader desire to remain productive and economically engaged after public service, while also contributing to the growth of indigenous businesses and value-chain development in Sierra Leone.
