As MP Nominee Withdraws Candidacy…
What Hope Is There For APC In Kono?
A nominated APC candidate for MP in Kono District, Isata Fillicia Wleh-Philip, has withdrawn, with immediate effect, her candidacy to contest for an MP seat in Kono ahead of the elections.
The candidate in her resignation letter stated that she had tendered her letter of resignation from the APC party since May 2023, but the party blatantly disregarded her letter and went ahead to nominate her at ECSL.
The press release reads; “Sir, it will surprise you that I forwarded a written resignation letter to the APC party on the 5 May, 2023 which the deputy regional chairperson Madam Magrette Suluku acknowledged but the APC party still went ahead and nominated me without my consent.”
It could be recalled that in a viral video on social media, the APC standard bearer, Mathew Wilson Kamara during a recent town hall meeting in London, made denigrating and disparaging comments against the people of Kono District.
Mr. Kamara is quoted to have said: “Kono is not better than Kamakwe or Kamalo. A political party like the C4C that is only focused on promoting one man and one tribe will not strive. That why the C4C party is dead.”
Immediately after the town hall meeting, videos have emerged on social media of some APC supporters, believed to be APC members with Kono origin, expressing disappointment and blasting Samura Kamara for reasons that could be attributed to his outburst against the Kono District.
It now appears that the APC flag bearer, Mathew Wilson Kamara is more of a threat and a disaster to the APC than their political opponents.
