As Unauthorized aircraft lands in Freetown Airport… Police Detains 4 Passengers

On Thursday 19th September, 2024, at around 11:54pm, an aircraft landed in the Freetown International Airport without obtaining landing permit. The place where the flight departed to land in Sierra Leone is yet to be known, according to preliminary investigation.
According to report from Sierra Leone Civil Aviation Authority, the said aircraft is a private non-scheduled aircraft that landed at FNA without an approval landing permit. “At 11:54 Pm on the 19th of September,2024, a private non-scheduled aircraft landed at FNA, without an approved landing permit”, said the SLCAA, adding that the aircraft has been impounded by the state security forces, and 4 passengers onboard the flight are being placed in police custody helping them with the investigation.
The Director General of SLCAA and SLCAA Inspectors from the Directorate of Flight Safety Standards and Aviation Security were on the site to assist in the initial interrogation of all onboard the aircraft. The investigation of the flight is still ongoing, according to authority of SLCAA.
