As Discussions ongoing… Ernest Koroma To Return Home Soon

Discussions are currently ongoing for Former President Ernest Bai Koroma to return home after being exiled in Nigeria for couple of months ago.
Report indicates that representatives of the APC has approached the Attorney General to drop all charges against the Former President and expedite the implementation of resolution 4 in the agreement for national unity. This resolution is critical to facilitating the release of political detainees and safe return of opposition officials including Former President Koroma who is currently in exile in Nigeria.
However, in November 2023, SierraLeone experienced an attempted coup as gunmen attacked the Military armoury and Pademba Road prison, resulting in the escape of nearly 2,000 inmates and approximately 20 fatalities. The Government of President Bio labelled the incident as attempted coup and open investigation into the incident and subsequently charging Former President Koroma with Treason and other offences. Ernest was subjected to face trial in Court for the alleged crime as he appeared in the dock on several occasion until a negotiation deal was sealed by West African Leaders for the former President to go into Nigeria. Due to their intervention, Ernest Koroma was granted permission by the High Court to travel to Nigeria for medical treatments for three months. Koroma has been in Nigeria for couple of months now and that he wants to return home.
Joseph Fitzgerald Kamara Defence Counsel for the Former President, intimated in an interview stated categorically that the former statesman wants to return home and that discussions are ongoing with key stakeholders for the safe return of the former stateman to SierraLeone.
