As Corruption & Public Mistrust Take Centre stage… CHRDI Calls for Complete Overhaul of Judicial System

In its press release dated 23rd may, 2025, the Campaign for Human rights and Development popularly known as CHRDI has echoed key concerns bordering around the lack of public trust and confidence on the judicial system.

Chief Executive Officer of the organization, Abdul Fatorma, asserts that recent events and trends have revealed serious trust issues in the judicial system, and therefore calls for an urgent reform. According to them, incidents of corruption and bias, delaying in cases, lack of transparency and accountability, poor condition of service among others, have all eroded the independence of the judiciary, thus fueling public distruct and skepticisms.  He, however, calls for urgent action in addressing these problems by implementing robust mechanism to address corruption allegations and misconduct within the judicial system; implementing measures and concrete steps  to enhance public confidence in the judiciary through increased transparency, community engagements and outreach initiatives, while urging them to remove any external influences that may compromise the impartiality of the institution.
