APC Won’t Pursue Legal Action against Edmond Alpha …Says Minkailu Koroma

A senior official of the All People’s Congress (APC) has disclosed that the party will not pursue legal action over the appointment of Edmond Alpha as Chairman of the Electoral Commission for Sierra Leone (ECSL).

Alfred Minkailu Koroma, speaking on behalf of the party’s Publicity Secretariat, stated that although the APC is well aware of its legal options, it has deliberately chosen not to challenge the decision of Julius Maada Bio in court.

“Certain political issues must be addressed politically rather than through the courts. Most presidential appointments in this part of the world are difficult to overturn judicially. That is why the APC will not take the Edmond Alpha case to court,” he said.

Koroma further emphasized that the party remains open to a political resolution. He noted that if the President takes what the APC considers the “right action” regarding the appointment and related recommendations, the party may reconsider its planned peaceful protest.

He also raised concerns about the level of attention being given to the issue, describing it as a distraction from more pressing national matters.

“We are spending too much time as politicians on minimal issues when there are more important national concerns that need to be addressed for the betterment of our people,” he added.

The statement comes amid ongoing debate surrounding the appointment of the ECSL Chairman, reflecting differing views among political stakeholders on how best to address the situation.
