While addressing supporters and members of the All-People’s Congress at their party headquarters in Freetown, Vice Chairman of the APC, Osman Foday Yansaneh, has stated firmly that the party has learnt from its past mistakes when electing Presidential candidate and giving him the free-hands to control the party
While registering the party’s determination to change that narrative, Yansaneh affirmed that: “The Next Flagbearer of the Party will not be a dictator and can’t be allowed to work in isolation, as he is going to be controlled by the party”.
He buttressed his claims by referencing a scenario when the party elected Samura Kamara as their Presidential candidate for the 2018 and 2023 Presidential polls, intimating that, during all those periods, the former had been given the free-hands to control the party.
“The manner in which APC conducts itself in 2018 and 2023 by electing Presidential candidate and leave him alone to do whatever, is going to change. This time around, the party is not only going to elect their flagbearer, but it is going to work side-by-side with him throughout the political journey”, Yansaneh asserted, adding that the party will be in charge and control of everything.
He also recalled the stance taken by the party to be in control when Ernest Bai Koroma was vying for the Presidency in 2007, intimating how that standpoint followed by unanimous support had enabled Ernest Bai Koroma to win the 2007 elections.
