APC Sends Strong Warning to SLPP

The Publicity Secretary of the All People’s Congress (APC), Sidie Yayah Tunis, has issued a strong warning to the ruling Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP), accusing the government of manipulating the laws of the land, disregarding the rule of law, and undermining democratic principles.
Speaking at a recent press engagement, Tunis emphasized that the APC will no longer remain passive in the face of what he described as continued government overreach.
“We will not sit by and allow the SLPP to flout the laws and think they can get away with it,” Tunis declared. “The APC is prepared to take a more confrontational stance if provoked further.”
He strongly warned that the ruling party may soon face lawful and firm resistance if it continues to act with impunity.
“They accuse us of being destructive. Maybe it’s time the APC becomes more destructive—because we will not sit and fold our hands while the SLPP does whatever they want,” he said.
Tunis asserted that the APC stands firmly with the people of Sierra Leone and will actively resist any government action that goes against the will of the citizens.
“Anything the people of this country do not want, the APC will stand behind them. We will not allow it,” he stressed.
He also reaffirmed the party’s commitment to protecting democratic norms and institutions, insisting that violations under the SLPP-led government will be challenged robustly.
Political analysts note that the APC’s sharpened rhetoric signals a potentially more confrontational political climate as the country heads toward its next electoral cycle. Observers are urging both parties to prioritize dialogue and national interest to avoid heightening tensions further.
