Secretary General of the All People’s Congress, Lansanah Dumbuya, has broken silence, saying that the APC will take action against any APC MPs who have defied the party order to go to Parliament. Lansanah Dumbuya said that the APC constitution gives the party the power to set up a Disclipnary committee and take action against whosoever that violates the party decision. “The APC intends to take action against Mohamed Bangura and Alfred Thompson for defying the party order”, he revealed, adding that the party would not be in mad rush to take any action against the defaulters, but rather will follow the spirit and letter of the law.
Responding to claims made by Hon. Alfred Thompson that he was under duress to sign the document of boycotting Parliament, Lansanah Dumbuya described such statement as dishonest, and informed the public that Thompson was not under any pressure by the leadership of the party to append his signature in the document of boycotting Parliament. “The leadership of the APC never forced Alfred Thompson to sign the document of boycotting Parliament”, he continued, further emphasizing with the point that the electorates voted for the party and not the individuals.
Hon. Thompson became the latest APC MP to be sworn in after the 24 June polls.
The APC MP took oath to join the acting minority leader, Mohamed Bangura. The two are the only out of the 54 elected APC MPs to defy the party’s call to boycott government.
