Army Chief Warns Military Officers

In the aftermath of the arrest of some military personnel who are suspected of subverting the peace of the country, the Chief of Defence Staff, Peter Lavahun, in his engagement with some military personnel in the Western Area has used that opportunity to warn all military officers to distance themselves from politics and also implored them to continue to remain professional. “Stay away from Politics…Our responsibility as military officers is to maintain the peace and I urge you all to be professional and maintain the peace of this country”, he admonished.

The Chief of Defense Staff further informed his colleagues about the arrest of some military officers who are accused of attempting to subvert the peace of the state. “Six Officers and 5 other ranks were arrested on grounds of credible and compelling evidence having against them while others are currently on the run”, he revealed, and added by admonishing all Military officers to refrain from anything that could bring embarrassment to RSLAF.

He concluded by commending all military officers for displaying professionalism during the June 24 Elections. “Your Display of Professionalism in the June 24 General elections is highly commendable and I want to encourage you all to continue to remain professional”, he added, noting that even though they have different ethno-regional background, but rather they are always see themselves as one people when it comes to the issue of RSLAF.
