5 In Police Custody …Over Mysterious Death of 2 Nursery Pupils in Pentecostal School

Report reaching Voice of Salone Newspaper reveals that two Children, Yusif Kamara and Patrick Hassan Kamara who are attending the National Pentecostal Nursery School situated at Fort Street in the west end of Freetown were found dead in an abandoned vehicle alleged to have belong to the Bishop of the National Pentecostal Church.
Investigation, however, indicates that the kids who are at aged bracket between 2-3 years left their various homes on Tuesday morning to attend the nursery class and were expected to be collected by their parents after the end of the schooling hours at 12:30 pm.
The kids were reportedly missing upon collection by their parents in the afternoon hours of Tuesday. This situation aggravated tension, causing Community youths and families to go on the rampage. The police intervened at the scene and quelled down the situation through the firing of teargas cannisters.
Explaining to this medium about the situation, the parents of the two deceased children stated that they went to the school on that fateful day of Tuesday around 12 o’clock midday to collect their kids, but unfortunately, they couldn’t see them in the class at that material time. They enquired through the nursery Teacher about the location of the kids, and they were informed that the kids were playing in the school compound. The Parent then searched around the school compound, but their kids were no longer to be found.
Their search of the missing kids continued until they were found at night in a vehicle packed in the school compound, report reveals, adding that out of the three missing kids found, two were reportedly dead, and one was alive, but was in a critical condition.
As a result of that, The aggrieved youths and families of the deceased kids went on the rampage and threatening to burn down the school. The Police intervened and succeeded in calming down the tension after receiving a distress call from members of the public about the incident at around 10:30 pm on Tuesday.
During the investigation process, the Police Personnel discovered three kids inside what they described as a stationery vehicle packed in the National Pentecostal School compound. Two of kids which are all boys had been confirmed dead, while one which is a girl is reportedly to be alive.
The Deputy Police Spokesman, Mohamed Bobson Senu, confirmed this information while giving a full explanation about the intervention of the police.
He disclosed that the investigation is ongoing and that the Police are yet to determine the cause of the death of the two kids, further stating that a postmortem will be carried out to ascertain their cause of death. “From our initial investigation, we are yet to ascertain any physical assault on the deceased kids”, said the Police Spokesman and confirmed the arrest of 5 suspects including a Bishop-the overseer of the school who are all in police custody helping them in their investigation.
In a press release dated 19th March,2025 coming from the office of the Bishop of National Pentecostal Mission, it confirms the loss of two nursery pupils in their school and expressed their deep condolences to the bereaved families of the deceased kids. The release states that the tragic loss of two nursery pupils has put the entire church family in a state of shock and disbelief and assured the general public of its commitment to fully cooperate with the Criminal Investigation Department to ensure that all necessary inquiries are conducted swiftly and justly. “As we await the outcome of the investigation, we urge every member of the church and the wider community to remain calm, patient and united in prayers. We also encourage all to refrain from speculations, avoid making comments on social media and allow the law enforcement agencies to do their work”. The sudden passing of these innocent children is an unimaginable loss, not only to their families, but also to the entire national Pentecostal Mission community. While joining the bereaved families to mourn for the passing of their kids, the mission finds strength in Gods words and the power of collective prayers and seeking for divine comfort and justice.
