3 Deputy Vice Chancellors Appointed at University of Sierra Leone

The University of Sierra Leone (USL) has announced the appointment of three new Deputy Vice Chancellors (DVCs), concluding a recruitment process that began in August this year.

At Fourah Bay College (FBC), Professor Andrew Baio has been named Deputy Vice Chancellor. A Professor of Aquatic Resource Economics and Governance, he currently serves as Director of the Institute of Marine Biology and Oceanography. His research focuses on natural resource economics, particularly aquatic resources, and he is also recognized internationally as a consultant in the field.

At the College of Medicine and Allied Health Sciences (COMAHS), Associate Professor James Russell takes over as Deputy Vice Chancellor. COMAHS is central to the training of Sierra Leone’s healthcare professionals, and his appointment is expected to further strengthen academic programs and foster new partnerships in the medical sector.

At the Institute of Public Administration and Management (IPAM), Associate Professor Duramani Lakoh has been appointed DVC, succeeding Professor Mariam Conteh-Morgan. He is tasked with enhancing IPAM’s reputation as a leading hub for business and management studies while spearheading key institutional reforms.

In addition, the University has ratified the appointment of Mr. Munda Lebbie as Registrar.
