The Acting Chief Electoral Commissioner of the Electoral Commission for Sierra Leone (ECSL), Edmond Sylvester Alpha, has firmly assured the public that the 2028 general elections will be conducted just like previous electoral cycles—including those in 2012, 2018, and 2023—and has dismissed growing speculations that the upcoming polls will be marred by fear or instability.

“There is nothing to be fearful about regarding the 2028 elections,” he stated confidently. “That election will resemble any other—just like in 2018, 2023, or 2012.”

Commissioner Alpha further emphasized his confidence in managing the process, noting that he will not be intimidated by anyone in the conduct of electoral duties, declaring himself a “master of the game.”

“No one will threaten me when it comes to election matters,” he affirmed.

He also reassured the public that ECSL is not anticipating any disruptions during the 2028 elections, stating, “We’re not foreseeing any eventuality in the 2028 Elections.”

In addition, Commissioner Alpha highlighted that the ECSL is working assiduously to mitigate risks ahead of the elections and ensure a safe, transparent, and credible process.

He also shed light on the Commission’s recruitment policy for electoral staff, confirming that it has been officially approved and aligns with the Tripartite Committee’s recommendations—a move aimed at ensuring neutrality, competence, and public trust in the electoral process.
