2 OSD Officers Convicted For Larceny
On Friday 18th August,2023, Magistrate Hadiru Daboh had sentenced 2 OSD Officers Idrissa Andrew Koroma, Issa Momoh Turay and seven others to 4 years imprisonment each consecutively.
The accused person’s Idrissa Andrew Koroma, Issa Momoh Turay, Mohamed Yansaneh, Abdul Abu Bangura, Sheku Mansaray, Hassan Kamara and Paul Kamara were before Magistrate Hadiru Daboh of Ross Road Court No 3 on two counts of conspiracy contrary to law and larceny contrary to Section 2 of the Larceny Act 1916.
Count 1 states that the 7 accused persons on Saturday 9th October 2021 at Jolaks Manufacturing Company, Wellington Industrial Estate, Freetown, conspired together with other person unknown to commit a felony to wit larceny.
Count 2 states that all the accused persons on the same date and place stolen dozens of gallon oil worth five hundred and ninety four million Leones, a property belonging to Jolaks Manufacturing Company.
Reading the judgment on Friday August 18th 2023, Magistrate Daboh, found the accused persons guilty after looking at the evidence before the court.
The Magistrate then sentenced the 1st, 2nd, 5th, 7th, and 9th accused person to 4 Years imprisonment each to run consecutively while the 8th accused person, Hassan Kamara, was sentenced to the time spent in detention i.e. he was acquitted and discharged.
The 3rd accused Mohamed Yansaneh escaped while they were put on bail, but he is going to serve his sentence whenever he is arrested. Superintendent Joan Bull was the Prosecutor.
